February 24, 2013- Erie COunty Sheriff Tim Howard is announcing three DWI arrestes including a felony, early Sunday morning.

 At about 3:24am, Deputies John Szczepanski and Thelma Jones stopped a vehicle driven by 26 y/o Anthony Slawinowski of East Aurora on Seneca St. in the Town of Elma for a traffic violation.  Slawinowski was determined to be intoxicated and was subsequently charged with DWI.  Slawinowski refused all blood alcohol tests.  He was later released to a third party on appearance tickets for Elma Town Court at a later date.

 A short time later around 3:42am, Deputies Simon Biegasiewicz and Nicholas Coniglio stopped a vehicle driven by 38 y/o Thomas R. Mattocks of Williamsville for traffic violations on Main st. at Youngs Rd. in the Town of Amherst. Further interview and field sobriety tests showed Mattocks to be intoxicated.  Mattocks was charged with DWI.  Mattocks refused all blood alcohol tests and was later released to a third party on appearance tickets for the Town of Amherst Court at a later date.

 Finally, at about 5:15am, Deputies Jason Bouton and Theresa Nietzel responded to West Ave in the Town of Sardinia for a report of an intoxicated male who drove up to an ex-girlfriend's house and was pounding on the door.  Upon arrival, Deputies interviewed the male, 36 y/o Scott A. Decker of Chaffee, and determined him to be intoxicated. During field sobriety testing, Decker ran off from Deputies. Deputies caught up to Decker and after a brief struggle, he was taken into custody.  Decker was subsequently arrested for Felony DWI, as he had prior DWI arrests, and numerous other charges including Obstructing Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest. Decker refused all alcohol tests and further processing. Decker was taken to the Erie County Holding Center and held pending his arraignment in the Town of Sardinia Court.

 These were the 51st, 52nd, and 53rd DWI arrests made by the Sheriff's Office this year.
