Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of two area drivers for Driving While Intoxicated. These DWI arrests are the 126th and 127th arrests for the Erie County Sheriff’s Office in 2013.
After receiving a complaint of a disturbance on North Blossom Rd. in the Town of Elma, Deputies Richard O’Neil and John Szczepanski located 32 yr. old Elma resident, Daniel Roberts, with his vehicle on North Blossom Rd. in the Town of Elma. Mr. Roberts was found to have operated his vehicle in an intoxicated state. Mr. Roberts was taken into custody after a brief altercation w/ the officers. Mr. Roberts refused to submit to a chemical breath test and was subsequently charged w/ Felony DWI (due to a prior conviction in October of 2005), several other vehicle and traffic charges and several criminal charges. Mr. Roberts was taken to Elma Town Court where he was arraigned by the Elma Town Judge and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center.
Patrol officers received a complaint of a vehicle being operated recklessly on Main Rd. in the Town of Newstead. The vehicle was located and stopped by Akron P.D. and Deputy Gene Nati of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office. The 45 yr. old Town of Alabama woman, Tatiana Makarevic, was found to be operating her vehicle intoxicated. Ms. Makarevic was taken into custody after failing Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. She was then transported to the Erie County Sheriff’s Clarence Substation where a chemical breath test was administered. Ms. Makarevic’s blood alcohol content was .17% and she was charged with DWI. Ms. Makarevic was released to a third party on Uniform Traffic Tickets returnable to the Town of Newstead Court at a future date.
