Detective Bureau

The Detective Bureau is responsible for investigating a full range of criminal activity, maintaining the entire Sheriff's Office's evidence, and conducting an annual auction to dispose of unclaimed property. Detectives handle cases ranging from homicides to petit larcenies and are routinely assigned to burglaries, robberies, larcenies, suspicious deaths and forgeries. Detectives may respond as deputies in a routine matter or may assume the investigations of complex or time-consuming matters. In addition, detectives are assigned to such diverse duties as Dignitary Protection, undercover assignments, temporary duty with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration or the Secret Service.
