Erie County Sheriff Timothy B Howard reports the DWI arrest of a West Seneca man following a two car injury accident in the Town of Elma on Tuesday evening.
Erie County Sheriff's Deputies George Avery and Edward Krypel along with Traffic Investigators Deputy Joe Raczynski and Simon Biegasiewicz responded to Bullis Rd. near Bowen Rd. in the Town of Elma around 9:45pm Tuesday evening for a report of a two car injury accident.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that a vehicle driven by 23 year old Curtis Frantz of West Seneca, which was eastbound on Bullis Rd., had crossed over into the westbound lane and struck a mailbox on the opposite side of the road. The vehicle then attempted to return to the eastbound lane, subsequently striking another vehicle heading west on Bullis Rd.
Further interview and field sobriety tests found Frantz to be intoxicated by drugs.
Both Frantz and the second driver were taken to ECMC for treatment of arm pain and chest pain, respectively. Both injuries were non-life threatening.
Frantz was arrested and charged with DWI-Drugs at the hospital and later refused to allow a blood draw.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene and impounded for further investigation and Frantz was issued appearance tickets at the hospital for DWI-Drugs and multiple other traffic violations, returnable in the Town of Elma Court at a later date. The investigation will continue.
This was the 134th DWI arrest by the Erie County Sheriff's Office this year.
