February 9, 2013- Sheriff Tim Howard is announcing the arrest of a Collins man for DWI, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration, and numerous traffic violations following a property damage hit and run accident on Southwestern Blvd on the Seneca Nation Reservation.

 Erie County Sheriff's Deputies Ryan Rogers and Neil Held responded to Southwestern Blvd on the Seneca Nation Reservation for a report of a hit and run property damage only accident. The vehicle in question struck another vehicle in the rear end and left the area. The vehicle was located a short time after on Versailles Plank Rd. with assistance from the Seneca Nation Marshals.

 Upon further interview it was discovered that the driver, 50 y/o John L. Darwin of the Town of Collins, was intoxicated.  Darwin was very uncooperative and struggled with Deputies upon Deputies attempt to arrest. Darwin was taken into custody without further incident and charged with DWI.  Darwin refused the chemical test.

 Darwin also had an active Arrest Warrant out of the Town of Collins by State Police for Criminal Mischief.

 Darwin was additionally charged with Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration, along with numerous traffic violations.

 Darwin was taken to the Erie County Holding Center and held pending arraignment.

 This was the 43rd DWI arrest made this year by the Erie County Sheriff's Office.
