May 18, 2013- Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard is announcing two more DWI arrests this evening, one of which being a felony offense.
The first at about 8:00pm, Erie County Sheriff's Deputy Brandon Stott and Matthew Fuqua responded to Genesee St. in the Town of Alden for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. Upon arrival, Deputies spoke with the driver, 44 y/o Christine M. Mardocco of Depew, and determined that she was intoxicated. Christine was travelling on Genesee St. when she lost control of the vehicle, struck a mailbox and went into the ditch. There were no injuries. Christine was charged with DWI and submitted to a chemical breath test which showed a reading of .24% BAC, three times the legal limit. Christine had a prior DWI conviction which turned this charge into a felony offense. Christine was later released on appearance tickets to a third party, returnable to the Town of Alden Court at a later date, and her vehicle was towed with a 12 hour DWI hold.
At about 11:20pm, Erie County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Okal stopped a vehicle on William St. off of the I-90 in the Town of Cheektowaga, driven by 27 y/o Darnysha Jackson of Cheektowaga, for a traffic violation. Upon further interview and subsequent field sobriety tests, Jackson was found to be impaired by some type of drug use. Jackson was arrested for DWI/Drugs and taken to ECMC for a Blood/Urine draw. Jackson's vehicle was towed with a 12 hour DWI hold. Jackson was later released to her mother with appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Cheektowaga Court at a later date.
