May 23, May 24TH - 2012 Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of two local residents for Driving While Intoxicated by Sheriff’s Road Patrols.
As Deputy Chris Soluri was leaving Ellicott Creek Park a Dodge pick-up truck driven by Jeffery Keitel,35, of North Tonawanda ran the red light and nearly struck the patrol car. The driver was stopped and failed several field sobriety tests. As he was being taken into custody Mr. Keitel became combative and swung at the deputy and had to be pepper sprayed. During the processing of his arrest, he refused to submit to a breath test. As a result of the refusal Deputy Soluri completed the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles forms to initiate immediate revocation of his license. Mr. Keitel was charged with Felony DWI due to his previous DWI convictions. He was also charged with Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration and Disorderly Conduct as well as multiple traffic infractions. He was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment.
While on patrol on Cain Road in Brant Deputy Neil Held stopped a car driven by Richard Ericson, 21, of Angola, for speeding. After speaking to the driver the deputy had cause to believe that the man had been drinking. After failing several field sobriety tests Mr. Ericson was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. Chemical test of his breath revealed his blood alcohol content to be .12%. He was processed at the North Collins Substation and released on appearance tickets.
