November 3, 2013- Sheriff Tim Howard is announcing the early morning arrest of a Wyoming County man for DWI following a one-car accident in the Town of Wales.
Erie County Sheriff's Deputy John Szczepanski responded to Big Tree Rd. @ Hunters Creek Rd. in the Town of Wales for a reported one- car injury accident.
Upon arrival, patrol found one vehicle had struck and was stuck against a guard rail. The vehicle was driven by 42 y/o Benjamin C. Francis of Columbine Way in the Village of Castile. Upon further investigation and interview, it was determined that Francis was intoxicated. Francis had minor injuries and was transported to ECMC for evaluation. Francis was arrested at the hospital for DWI and submitted to a blood draw to determine his BAC. Francis was released at the hospital on appearance tickets for DWI and other traffic violations, returnable to the Town of Wales Court at a later date.
A female passenger in the vehicle was transported by Mercy Flight to ECMC for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation of the accident is continuing.
This is the 258th DWI arrest by the Erie County Sheriff's Office this year.
