     Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Buffalo woman for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs by Sheriff’s Road Patrols Wednesday night.

     While responding to a reckless operation complaint on County Rd in Clarence at about 7:00 PM, Deputy Lee Richard found the car driven by Buffalo resident Phan Pham (19) that had left the roadway at the intersection of Hunts Corner and Maple road in the Town of Newstead.  The car was stuck in a ditch with both occupants trapped inside.  The passenger was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital by ambulance.  The driver was uninjured and after failing several field sobriety tests was transported to the Sheriff’s Elma substation to be evaluated by Deputy Simon Biegasiewicz, a Drug Recognition Expert.  She was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and other traffic infractions.  Ms. Pham was released on appearance tickets.
