Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the late evening arrest of an East Aurora man for Felony DWI following a traffic stop on Seneca St. in the Town of Elma.
Erie County Sheriff's Deputy Russ Tyczka was on patrol on Seneca St. at Transit Rd. in the Town of Elma when he observed a vehicle drive over the curb at the intersection. Upon stopping the vehicle, Deputy Tyczka interviewed the driver, 29 year old John A. Yager of East Aurora, and after a field sobriety test found him to be intoxicated. Yager submitted to a chemical breath test which showed a .20% BAC. Yager was then arrested and charged with DWI and other traffic violations, and his vehicle was towed from the scene and put on a DWI hold. He had a prior DWI making this arrest a felony. Yager was taken to the Erie County Holding Center and held pending arraignment in the Town of Elma Court.
This was the 47th DWI arrest by the Erie County Sheriff's Office this year.
