ERIE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE WITH HELP FROM BUFFALO POLICE CONFISCATE 18 POUNDS OF MARIJUANA

Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard reports that the ECSO Narcotics Unit, assisted by the Buffalo Police Narcotics Unit, arrested Andrew Powell, 30 years old of Buffalo, NY after a search warrant signed by New York State Supreme Court Justice Timothy Drury was executed on Powell’s vehicle.

Approximately 18 lbs. of marijuana, worth approximately $40,000 on the street, was seized from the vehicle Mr. Powell was driving. It is believed that quantities of the recovered marijuana were going to be sold in the City of Buffalo, as well as the surrounding suburbs of Erie County(ECSO patrol areas).  Powell was charged with criminal possession of marijuana in the 1st degree of the NYS penal law, a class C felony. The two agencies have been working together on a regular basis and have been successful with intercepting large amounts of marijuana and other controlled substances destined for Sheriffs' patrol areas. This is an ongoing investigation. Powell will be taken to the Erie County Holding Center to await arraignment in Buffalo City Court.  Investigation initiated by ECSO Detective Tim Donovan.
