Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard today announces the successful completion of a Family Court warrant sweep that was conducted on Wednesday, April 09, 2014. The Erie County Sheriff’s Family Court Warrant Enforcement Unit participated in the sweep and searched all over the City of Buffalo and Erie County for individuals wanted on active Family Court warrants. The Sheriff’s Office has focused their attention on Family Court warrant sweeps as an important tool to combat crime and concentrate on persons who owe and are not paying child support.
Deputies from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office arrested and took 7 subjects on 11 different warrants into custody.
Arrested in the sweep was 29 year old Jonathan MacKinnon from Buffalo on a Family Court Child Support Warrant and two Town of Tonawanda Bench Warrants for assault, unlawful possession of marijuana, and various vehicle and traffic charges. Also arrested in the sweep were 33 year old Demarr Johnson from Buffalo on two Family Court Child Support Warrants, 42 year old Mark D. Saunders from Buffalo on a Family Court Child Support Warrant, 24 year old Nicholas Giardina from Cheektowaga on a Family Court Child Support Warrant, 45 year old Gary E. Bitner from Lackawanna on two Family Court Child Support Warrants, 35 year old John T. Harley II from Lackawanna on a Family Court Child Support Warrant, and 42 year old Richard Carriero from Buffalo on a Family Court Child Support Warrant. Deputies are confident that intelligence gathered during the sweep will lead to several more arrests in the following days and weeks.
