October 5, 2012 - Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard reports a one car motor vehicle accident that fatally injured a Buffalo man.
At approximately 8:50 p.m., a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria was traveling north bound on Route 400 near Jamison Road in the Town of Elma; while proceeding through a construction zone,the operator struck the center concrete barrier and lost control of the vehicle going off the right hand side of the road causing the vehicle to overturn.
The operator, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Erie County Sheriff's Office Accident Investigation Unit continues the investigation and speed appears to be a contributing factor.
Spring Brook Fire Company and the Jamison Road Fire Company assisted at the scene.
Route 400 north bound was closed for approximately four hours during the investigation.
