November 5, 2013- Sheriff Tim Howard is announcing the arrest of a New Jersey man for Aggravated DWI. This is the 260th DWI arrest by Erie Co. Sheriff's Office in 2013.
Deputy David Zamorek conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle, operated by 42 yr. old Jeffrey Martens, fail to stay on the right side of the road.
Upon further investigation, Deputy Zamorek determined that Mr. Martens was intoxicated and took him into custody. Mr. Martens was transported to the New York State Police Barracks in Clarence, where a chemical breath test was administered. Mr. Martens' blood alcohol content registered a .19%, over twice the legal limit.
Due to the high blood alcohol content and a prior conviction for DWI in February 2006, Mr. Martens was charged w/ Aggravated Felony DWI and other vehicle and traffic charges. Mr. Martens was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment in the Town of Clarence Court at a later date.
