FELONY DWI ARREST IN SPRINGVILLE

July 20, 2013- Erie Co. Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Village of Springville man for Felony Driving While Intoxicated.  This is the 194th DWI arrest made by the Erie County Sheriff’s in 2013.

Erie Co Sheriff’s Deputy Brad Ballantyne was on patrol in the Village of Springville when he observed a vehicle driving north in the southbound lane on Elk St.   Deputy Ballantyne stopped the vehicle on Prospect Ave. and found that the driver, 46 year old William K. Schweickert Jr, was intoxicated.  Schweickert was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.  A breath test determined that his blood alcohol content was .20%, over twice the legal limit.  Schweickert’s DWI charge was upgraded to a felony due to a previous DWI conviction in the Town of Lockport in 2004.

Schweickert was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment in the Village of Springville Court at a later date.
