September 2, 2013- Sheriff Tim Howard is reporting the early afternoon arrest of a Seneca Nation man for Felony DWI, Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, and outstanding Warrants following a traffic stop on Longhouse Rd. on the Seneca Nation Reservation.
Following a complaint of an intoxicated driver in the area, Erie County Sheriff's Deputies Gary Mosier and Thomas Van Wie responded to the Seneca Nation Reservation where Deputy Mosier subsequently made a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle on Longhouse Rd.
On the stop, the driver, 40 year old Desmond A. Jimerson of Longhouse Rd. ran from his vehicle and was pursued on foot by Deputy Mosier. The foot pursuit went down the street a few houses and through the backyards where Deputy Mosier was able to subdue Jimerson and take him into custody without further incident.
Jimerson failed field sobriety tests and was found to be intoxicated which subsequently led to a DWI charge.
Jimerson had multiple driving suspensions and was revoked for alcohol related reasons. Jimerson also had a prior DWI making this arrest a Felony DWI along with a Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a vehicle charge for the alcohol suspensions. Jimerson was also charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd.
Further investigation revealed that Jimerson had two outstanding Warrants for him, one out of the Erie County Sheriff's Office and one out of the Town of Evans.
Jimerson was arraigned at North Collins Town Court and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center on $1000 cash bail/$2000 bond. Deputy Mosier was assisted by Deputy Thomas Van Wie and State Police units.
This was the 216th DWI arrest by the Erie County Sheriff's Office this year.
