Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the early morning arrest of a Grand Island man for DWI, Reckless Driving and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana following a property damage motor vehicle accident in the Town of Grand Island. Deputy Jason Clark arrested Tyler J. Rice, 40 years old, of Grand Island for Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, multiple other Vehicle and Traffic Violations and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana after Rice left the scene of a property damage accident at a speed of 100 mph in a 45 mph zone.
Rice refused a chemical breath test to determine his blood alcohol content, and was taken to the Erie County Holding Center where he is being held until arraignment in Grand Island Town Court.
This was the 78th DWI arrest by the Erie County Sheriff's Office this year.
