INMATE AND GIRLFRIEND CONSPIRE TO BRING IN CELLPHONE AT ERIE COUNTY CORRECTIONAL FACILITY
Alden, N.Y.- Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard is reporting the arrest of an inmate at the Erie County Correctional Facility and his girlfriend earlier this week for their involvement in an attempted scam to smuggle a cellphone into the Erie County Correctional Facility. 25 year old Chakara Sanford of North Hampton Street, Buffalo, and the inmate, 28 year old Michael June (also of the same address
Sanford and June were each charged with Conspiracy in the 6th degree and Promoting Prison Contraband in the 2nd degree. The investigation conducted by Detectives Scott Piel and Christian Parisi revealed that Sanford brought the phone into the Erie County Correctional Facility late last month while visiting June. An alert Corrections Officer discovered the phone during a routine search of the facility before it could be further introduced into the inmate population.
June has been an inmate at the Erie County Correctional Facility for the past 16 months on a parole warrant and on a county court detainer for alleged possession of a loaded firearm – a charge out of the City of Buffalo.
