April, 2013- Sheriff Tim Howard reports that a Town of Elma man was arrested yesterday afternoon for the theft of various scrap metal items, dating back to late February of this year. Deputy Jason Weiss made quick work of the arrest after he was called to investigate a town resident's complaint of the theft of a quantity of heavy electric motors, and a number of large batteries and copper wire, worth almost $1000.00, from his Schultz Rd. farm property. Deputy Weiss' investigation lead him to a Depew scrapyard, where he obtained evidence that the items had been sold there for scrap. As a result of this, the suspect was contacted, and came to the Elma Sub-Station, where he gave a statement admitting to the thefts. Arrested was Michael M. Lenz, age 22, of North Blossom Rd. in Elma. Mr. Lenz was charged with Petit Larceny, and was released on an appearance ticket, pending his arraignment on a future date in the Town of Elma Court.
