May 9, 2013- Town of Alden- Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard is announcing the arrest of a Lockport woman in the Town of Alden for Aggravated DWI. At about 3:15pm on Thursday afternoon, Detective Shaun Hediger was travelling on Townline Rd. at Westwood Rd. in the Town of Alden when he observed a vehicle ahead of him driving erratically and almost striking a couple pedestrians who were walking on the shoulder of the road.
Detective Hediger initiated a traffic stop and was subsequently assisted by Deputy Greg Kent.
Upon further interview and field sobriety tests, the driver, 51 y/o Wendi L. Carrigan of Lockport, was determined to be intoxicated.
Carrigan was arrested for DWI and submitted to a breath chemical test which showed a reading of .19% BAC, which rendered the Aggravated DWI charge.
Carrigan's vehicle was towed and she was released to a third party on appearance tickets for Alden Court at a later date.
This was the 122nd DWI arrest by the Erie County Sheriff's Office this year.
