Man Caught Trying To Steal Thousands Of Dollars Worth Of Pipe

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announces the arrest of John Andrisani 36, of Cheektowaga on a felony charge of attempted grand larceny and trespassing.

Deputies were called to Greenauer Development, 2699 Transit Rd in Elma, to respond to a male attempting to remove construction materials from Greenauer’s storage yard.  When Deputies arrived they found Andrisani’s truck still at the scene with fifteen metal pipes in the bed of his truck.

While Deputies took Andrisani into custody, a Sheriff Detective continued the investigation of the crime scene.  In the course of the investigation, Andrisani admitted to stealing other property the previous night and selling it to an area scrap yard.  The materials are worth an estimated $18,000 and most of the evidence was returned to Greenauer Development.

Andrisani was arraigned in Elma Town Court and released on his own recognizance.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office is advising companies to secure items commonly stolen to be sold as scrap and to notify law enforcement agencies if any property is removed without permission.
