July 14, 2012- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Buffalo man for misdemeanor marijuana charges at the Italian Festival by the Sheriff’s Strike Force.
Erie County Sheriff’s Strike force Deputies Brandon Stott, Theresa Neitzel, Dan Zlotek, and Gene Nati were manning a patrol post at Hertel Ave and Crestwood Ave at the Italian Festival when a strong odor of marijuana was detected from behind the Deputies. Further investigation led the Deputies to a vehicle parked behind them as the odor became stronger. The driver, 35 y/o Railly Betances was observed smoking marijuana and as the door to the vehicle was opened, a cloud of smoke emanated from the vehicle.
Betances was arrested and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana for smoking in public view and unlawful possession of marijuana. Betances was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the City of Buffalo Court at a later date.
