Multiple Drivers Arrested for DWI by Sheriff's Road Patrols


Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports that multiple drivers were arrested by Sheriff's Road Patrols overnight.

While on Patrol in the Town of Elma at approximately 10:15 PM Wednesday night, Deputy John Szczepanski arrested Ross M. Szuflita (30) of Elma and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated and traffic infractions after stopping his car for passing a stop sign and imprudent speed on Maple Rd.  A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .15%.  He was processed at the Elma substation and released on appearance tickets.

While on Patrol in the Town of Clarence at approximately 10:15 PM Wednesday night, Deputy Simon Biegasiewicz arrested Melissa D. Woods (33) of Amherst and charged her with Felony Driving While Intoxicated after stopping her car for Speeding on Transit Rd.  A breath test revealed her blood alcohol content to be .12%. Woods was charged with a Felony due to a prior DWI conviction in February of 2005.  She was processed at the Clarence Substation and released on appearance tickets.

While assisting the Village of Akron Police with a traffic stop at approximately 1:10 AM Thursday morning, Deputy Simon Biegasiewicz arrested Leroy M Stafford JR. (33) of Basom NY and charged him with Felony Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .13%.  Stafford Jr. was charged with Felony DWI due to a prior DWI conviction in November of 2004.  Stafford Jr. was operating the vehicle with a revoked license and was found to be travelling with two 15 year olds in the vehicle.  He was processed at the Clarence Substation and taken to the Holding Center pending arraignment.

These were the 60th-62nd arrests for DWI by Sheriffs Road Patrols in 2014.
