Multiple DWI Arrests Reported by Patrols


Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of multiple drivers for Driving While Intoxicated by Sheriff’s Road Patrols Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

While on patrol on Rt. 62 in the Town of North Collins at approximately 8:10 PM, Deputy Theresa Nietzel arrested Mark A. Igel, 51, of North Collins and charged him with DWI – Drugs and multiple traffic infractions after stopping his vehicle for erratic operation near Cain Road.  A blood test was secured to determine his level of intoxication by drugs.  He was processed and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in Concord at approximately 2:15 AM Sunday morning, Deputy Eric Szkatulski arrested Michael J. Baronich, 24, of Springville and charged him with DWI and traffic infractions after investigating a one car property damage crash at the corner of Springville-Boston Road and Middle Road.  Baronich refused to submit to a breath test to determine his blood alcohol content.  He was processed and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in Marilla at approximately 4:00 AM Sunday morning, Deputy Rich O’Neil arrested Cary C. Cook, 30, of Elma and charged him with DWI and traffic infractions after investigating a one car personal injury crash on Four Rod Road.  Cook was transported by ambulance to ECMC for apparently non-life threatening injuries.   A blood sample was secured at the hospital to determine his blood alcohol content.  He was processed and released on appearance tickets.

These arrests marked the 80th, 81st, and 82nd DWI arrests by Sheriff’s Road Patrols in 2014.
