MULTIPLE DWI ARRESTS AND OTHERS OVER THE WEEKEND


 

 

July 28, 2012-   Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports that Sheriff’s Road Patrols arrested seven people for a variety of charges during separate incidents on Friday and Saturday night.

      While on patrol in Clarence at approximately 3:00AM Saturday, Deputies Simon Biegasiewicz and Lee Richard arrested Joseph D. Kostek (22) of Williamsville and charged him with DWI.  Mr. Kostek refused the breath test.  In accordance with New York State Law, refusing to submit to the test results in the immediate suspension and subsequent revocation of his driver’s license.  He was processed at the Clarence Substation and released on appearance tickets.  A passenger in the car Vincent  M. Jacobi (22), also of Williamsville, was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, he too was also released on appearance tickets. 

      While patrolling on Sharp Street in the Town of Concord at approximately 3:50AM Saturday, Deputy Don Hoelscher arrested Shannon L. Shiedel, (24), for Driving While Intoxicated after stopping her vehicle for failure to maintain lane.   Breath Test revealed her Blood Alcohol Content to be .09%.  She was processed at the Springville Substation and released on appearance tickets.  Her passenger, Duane P. Dearmyer, (29), of Springville, was arrested for Criminal Possession of Controlled Substances 7th.  Dearmyer was taken to the Erie County Holding Center with bail set at $500.

      After responding to an injury accident in Sprague Brook Park at about 6:50PM Saturday, Deputy Don Hoelscher charged an 18-year-old North Tonawanda woman with reckless driving and other traffic infractions.  The driver was traveling at an imprudent speed in the park and left the roadway and struck two campers who luckily only received minor injuries.  The two victims, a 19-year-old girl and her 15-year-old brother were checked out by first aid on scene and cleared.  The siblings then went to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville as a precautionary measure.

      While patrolling in the area of Evangola State Park at 4:20AM Sunday Deputies Ken Achtyl and Dan Zlotek arrested Joseph M. Franey, 37, of Evans for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree.  The higher charge is the result of the defendant being in possession of in excess of 500 milligrams of cocaine.  Mr. Franey was initially pulled over for a traffic violation and was observed to be in possession of the Cocaine.  He was also charged with Driving While Intoxicated and traffic violations.  Franey was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment.

      While on patrol in Elma on Transit Road Deputy Rich O’Neil arrested Dennis A. Blair, 61, of Orchard Park, for Driving While Intoxicated after a traffic stop for failure to keep right.  Mr. Blair’s Blood Alcohol Content was determined to be .016%, twice the legal limit.  He was released on appearance tickets.
