MULTIPLE DWI ARRESTS OVERNIGHT


November 9, 2013- Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard reports  that the Erie County Sheriff's Office made three DWI arrests overnight.  The three arrests are the 261st, 262nd and 263rd DWI arrests for the Erie County Sheriff's Office in 2013.

 In the first incident, Deputy Matthew Krypel responded to a report that a vehicle was swerving in and out of the lane on Transit Rd. in the Town of Clarence.  ECSO then received another report that the same vehicle had struck the curb three times.  Deputy Matthew Krypel located the vehicle and upon further investigation at the scene, determined that the driver, 47 year old Donna House of Akron, was intoxicated.  Ms. House was taken into custody and transported to the Erie County Sheriff's Clarence Substation.  Ms. House submitted to a chemical breath test which revealed her blood alcohol content to be .23%, almost three times the legal limit.  Ms. House was charged w/ Aggravated DWI (due to the high blood alcohol content) and other vehicle and traffic charges.  Ms. House was released to a third party on uniform traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Clarence Court at a later date.  Deputy Matthew Krypel was assisted by Deputy Jonathan Hanna

 

In the second incident, Deputy George Avery conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle driven by 66 yr. old James Austin of Marilla, unable to stay in its lane and unable to drive on the right side of the road.  Further investigation by patrol showed that Mr. Austin was intoxicated.  Mr. Austin was taken into custody and transported to the Erie County Sheriff's Elma Substation.  Mr. Austin submitted to a chemical breath test which revealed his blood alcohol content to be .11%.  Mr. Austin was arrested for DWI and several other vehicle and traffic charges.  Mr. Austin was released to a third party on uniform traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Elma Court at a later date.

 

In the third incident, Deputy George Avery and Deputy Russell Tyczka responded to a report that a suspicious vehicle was on Olean Rd. in the Town of Wales and it appeared as if the driver was unconscious.  It was then reported that the vehicle started to drive down the road and that the driver still appeared unconscious.  Upon patrol's arrival, the driver of the vehicle, 33 yr. old Damien Dashnaw of West Seneca, was found to be intoxicated.  Mr. Dashnaw was taken into custody and transported to the Erie County Sheriff's Elma Substation.  Mr. Dashnaw submitted to a chemical breath test and his blood alcohol content was shown to be .18%.  Due to the high blood alcohol content, Mr. Dashnaw was charged w/ Aggravated DWI and other vehicle and traffic charges.  Mr. Dashnaw was released to a third party on uniform traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Wales Court at a later date.
