Multiple DWI Arrests Reported


Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of multiple persons for drunk driving by Sheriff’s Road Patrols over the weekend.

While on patrol in Clarence at approximately 5:33PM Saturday afternoon, Deputy Tim Christian responded to a complaint of a larceny in progress at the Walmart on Transit Road.  The Deputy was able to locate the suspect vehicle and stop the car on Transit Road.  After investigating the incident, Deputy Christian arrested the driver,  Matthew J. Palka (41) of Clarence and charged him with DWI, traffic infractions, Petit Larceny and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.  A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .08%.  All of the stolen items were recovered and returned to the store.  Palka was processed at the Clarence station and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in Concord at approximately 8:34PM Saturday evening, Deputy Jason Bouton responded to a complaint of a property damage crash on Rt. 240 near Kissing Bridge.  After investigating the crash, Deputy Bouton arrested the driver,  Kyle J. Anger (21) of North Java, and charged him with DWI and traffic infractions.  Anger refused to submit to a breath test to determine his blood alcohol content.  He was processed at the Springville Station and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in Clarence at approximately 4:36AM on Sunday morning, Deputies Simon Biegasiewicz and Matthew Sirianni arrested Scott W. Baehre (48) of Clarence and charged him with DWI, Driving with a suspended license, and traffic infractions after stopping his vehicle for erratic operation on Salt Road.  A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .12%.  He was processed at the Clarence Station and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in Cheektowaga at approximately 4:44AM on Sunday morning, Deputy John Szczepanski arrested Daphne E. Foreman (40) of Buffalo and charged her with Felony DWI and traffic infractions after stopping her vehicle for driving erratically eastbound on the Thruway near William Street.  A breath test revealed her blood alcohol content to be .12%.  The felony charge was filed due to a prior conviction for DWI from 2011.  She was processed at the Elma Station and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation at approximately 6:09PM on Sunday afternoon, Deputy Ryan Rogers responded to the complaint of a vehicle crashing into a tree and then driving away on Rt. 438 near Hawk Meadows Drive.  After locating the heavily damaged suspect vehicle on Woodchuck Road and investigating the crash, Deputy Rogers arrested the driver,  Jack E. Warrior Jr. (31) of Lawtons and charged him with Felony Aggravated DWI and traffic infractions, including leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Crash.   A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .18%.  The felony charge was filed due to Warrior having a conviction for DWI from 2010.  He was processed at the North Collins Station and released on appearance tickets.

These arrests were the 38th through the 41st arrests for DWI by Sheriff’s Road Patrols in 2014.
