March 1, 2013- Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard reports that the Erie County Sheriff's Office made two DWI arrests overnight. These two arrests are the 58th and 59th DWI arrests for the Erie County Sheriff's Office in 2013.
In the first incident, Deputy Matthew Fuqua stopped a vehicle operated by a Village of Blasdell man when he observed the vehicle cross over the center line and enter the oncoming lane in the town of Newstead. Upon conducting the traffic stop, the 49 yr. old driver, Glen Allen, was found to be intoxicated. Mr. Allen was taken into custody and transported to the Erie County Sheriff's Clarence Substation. A chemical breath test was administered to Mr. Allen and this test showed his blood alcohol content to be .17%. Mr. Allen was released to a third party on uniform traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Newstead Court at a later date.
Deputy George Avery responded to a report of an accident in the Town of Wales and found the driver, 41 yr. old Darin Baron of Freedom, to be intoxicated. Mr. Baron was taken to the Erie County Sheriff's Elma Substation and taken into custody after he failed field sobriety tests. Mr. Baron took the chemical breath test and his blood alcohol content was found to be .17%. Mr. Baron was then released to a third party on uniform traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Wales Court at a later date.
