MULTIPLE DWI'S (6) ON NEW YEAR'S EVE


January 1, 2012- Multiple locations- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of six subjects for Driving While Intoxicated by Sheriff’s road patrols on New Year’s Eve.

While on patrol in Springville at about 10:54PM, Deputy Don Hoelscher arrested Christopher A. Cowfer (27) of Springville and charged him with DWI and traffic infractions after stopping his vehicle for erratic operation and equipment violations on Church Street in Springville. A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .10%. He was processed at the Springville Substation and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in Clarence at about 12:50AM, Deputy Dan Harris arrested Kelly L. Heilemann (51) of Oakfield and charged her with DWI and traffic infractions after stopping her vehicle for erratic operation on Main Street near Davison Road in Clarence. A breath test revealed her blood alcohol content to be .13%. She was processed at the Clarence Substation and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in Springville at about 3:15AM, Deputy Don Hoelscher arrested Mark E. Maussner (44) of Springville and charged him with Aggravated DWI and traffic infractions after stopping his vehicle for driving through a stop sign on East Main Street near Franklin Street. A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .20%. He was processed at the Springville Substation and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in Springville at about 3:00AM, Deputy Jason Bouton arrested Robert J. Kehr (32) of Springville and charged him with Felony DWI and traffic infractions after stopping his vehicle for erratic operation on East Main Street near Rt. 240. A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .14%. The added felony DWI charge was filed due to a prior conviction for DWI in 2002. He was processed at the Springville Substation and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in Elma at approximately 3:26AM, Deputy Ryan Rogers arrested Yelena Kuyava (26) of Amherst and charged her with DWI and traffic infractions after stopping her vehicle due to a citizen complaint of erratic operation on the northbound Rt. 400 Expressway in West Seneca. A breath test revealed her blood alcohol content to be .17%. She was processed at the Elma Substation and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in West Seneca at approximately 4:05AM, Deputy John Szczepanski arrested Jeffrey F. Biber (49) of Buffalo and charged him with Felony Aggravated DWI, traffic infractions, Obstruction of Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest after stopping his vehicle for erratic operation on Seneca Street. A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .23%, almost three times the legal limit. The added Felony charge was filed due to Biber having a prior conviction for DWI in 2010. He was processed at the Elma station and transported to the Holding Center to await arraignment.
