August 22, 2012- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of Buffalo man for Felony crack possession with intent to sell by the Sheriff’s Strike Force Unit in the City of Buffalo.
Erie County Sheriff’s Strike Force Deputies Neil Held and John Szczepanski observed a vehicle driving without headlights at night on Bailey Ave. at Genesee St. and had illegal tinted windows. The vehicle was stopped on Genesee St. at Kilhoffer St.
The driver was identified as 23 y/o Marquel A. Alexander of Buffalo. A check of Alexander’s driver’s license showed that he was suspended. An inventory check of the vehicle before it was towed turned up a golf ball sized sandwich baggie full of crack cocaine in the gas filling compartment. Inside the baggie were a handful of smaller glassine envelopes with crack cocaine, packaged to sell. As Alexander was sitting in the back of the patrol vehicle, he deposited a small amount of marijuana onto the backseat.
Alexander was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree(C Felony), Criminal Possession with Intent to Sell(B Felony), Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and traffic tickets for the no headlights, illegal tint windows, and suspended license.
Alexander was taken to the Erie County Holding Center and held pending his arraignment in the City of Buffalo Court.
