June 29, 2013- Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Grand Island woman for heroin and hypodermic needle possession following a traffic stop on Stony Point Rd. in the Town of Grand Island.
Erie County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Okal stopped a vehicle on Stony Point Rd. in the Town of Grand Island for a traffic infraction. The vehicle was driven by 29 y/o Kristyn M. Dowd of Baseline Rd. in the Town of Grand Island.
During the traffic stop, it was discovered that Dowd had an outstanding arrest warrant out of the City of Buffalo. Dowd was taken into custody and her vehicle was towed from the scene.
While inventorying the vehicle before the tow, 10 small bags of heroin and a handful of hypodermic needles was discovered in the vehicle. Dowd was subsequently charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree and Criminal Possession of Hypodermic Instrument.
Dowd was transported to the Erie County Holding Center and held pending her arraignment at Grand Island Town Court. Dowd will also be held there to answer for her City of Buffalo warrant.
