August 20, 2012- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Buffalo man for narcotics and marijuana possession during a safety road check by the Sheriff’s Strike Force Unit.
Erie County Sheriff’s Strike Force Deputies Mike Hoock and Jason Breinlinger were conducting a safety road check on Military Rd at Hertel Ave in the City of Buffalo when a vehicle came into the road check driven by 22 y/o George J. Mitchell of Buffalo. As Deputies were speaking to Mitchell, a strong odor of marijuana was emanating from the vehicle. Further interview and questioning found Mitchell to have a few small bags of marijuana on his possession and Mitchell went on to admit having 15 unauthorized Lortabs in the center console of the vehicle which were subsequently discovered.
Mitchell was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
Mitchell was taken to the Erie County Holding Center on $500 bail or until arraignment in the City of Buffalo Court.
