July 3, 2012- Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard reports a felony narcotics arrest in the City of Buffalo from the Sheriff’s Strike Force unit.
Erie County Sheriff’s Strike Force Deputies Dan Zlotek and Theresa Nietzel stopped a vehicle driven by 40 y/o George Jackson Jr. on E. Delevan Ave near Eggert Rd. in the City of Buffalo for not wearing a seat belt. Upon interviewing Jackson, a strong odor of marijuana was emanating from the vehicle. Jackson admitted smoking the marijuana a short time ago and upon further interview and investigating, a couple small baggies of suspected cocaine were located in the vehicle, and subsequently confirmed as such by a narcotics field test. The weight of the cocaine measured 21 grams, making it a felony charge. A marijuana cigarette was also discovered.
Jackson was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree(B felony), Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, no seat belt, and unsafe tires.
Jackson was taken to the Erie County Holding Center and held pending his arraignment in City of Buffalo Court. Jackson’s vehicle was impounded.
The Sheriff’s Strike Force unit is working in conjunction with Buffalo Police and the New York State Police.
