Gowanda, NY - October 1, 2013- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of two local residents for various charges after a search warrant was executed in Gowanda last night.
Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives from the Narcotics Unit and Patrol Division executed a search warrant at 37 Union Street in Gowanda at 10PM last night after investigating multiple complaints of illegal drug activity occurring at the house.
Upon entering the house, the Deputies discovered crack cocaine, along with conditions of squalor inside, including garbage scattered around the house and rotten, putrid food contained inside a refrigerator that no longer worked. A young child was living at the residence in these conditions without any edible food observed by the Deputies and with multiple occupants of the house intoxicated by either drugs, alcohol, or both.
The Deputies arrested the owner of the house (mother of the child): Alissa C. Jones (42) and charged her with Narcotics Possession, Criminal Nuisance, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Also arrested was Eric K. Pierce (30) who was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Both were processed and transported to the Holding Center to await arraignment on their charges.
The child was placed with a relative for the night by the Deputies and a report was filed with Child Protective Services.
