Sheriff Timothy B Howard reports that a Niagara County Town of Sanborn man was arrested on felony charges late Sunday afternoon. Deputy Mike Okal, of the Erie County Sheriff's Snowmobile Unit, had just arrived at Kissing Bridge Ski Resort to check on a snowmobile event, when he was notified by a parking attendant that a driver who appeared intoxicated had just left heading south on Rt. 240. Deputy Okal was able to catch up to the vehicle and observe a violation. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver exibited signs of intoxication. He was given several sobriety tests which were failed.
Arrested for D.W.I. was Brian S. Taylor, age 44, of Human Rd. A computer check revealed that Mr. Taylor had a previous conviction for D.W.I. in 2006 stemming from an arrest in the Town of Amherst. This elevated his arrest to a felony. He volunteered to take a breath test, and registered a .24% B.A.C. This prompted an additional charge of Aggravated D.W.I. (.18% or higher). Mr. Taylor was sent to the Erie County Holding Center on $750.00 bail, and will answer to the charges on a future date in the Town of Concord Court. His vehicle was towed and a 12 hour hold was placed on it.
This is the 34th arrest for D.W.I. made by the Erie County Sheriff's Office in 2014.
