Deputies with Entry Team Talked with Inmate, and He Became Complaint

 

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports an inmate under mental health, and medical care refused to take his prescribed medication, causing his health to deteriorate, and he became combative.

 

The inmate’s health was worsening to the point where medical and mental health professionals and jail management supervisors decided the extract the inmate for the safety of staff and wellbeing of the inmate. 

 

On August 18, the Sheriff’s Quick Entry Team prepared to make entry into the inmate’s cell.  The Deputies’ had a final conversation with the inmate, and he became compliant; they removed him without incident.

 

The inmate was transported to Erie County Medical Center for immediate medical treatment, and the inmate was later released and returned to the holding center
