Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Deputy Hyde stopped a vehicle on Southwestern Boulevard in the Town of Brant just before 1 A.M. on June 13.  The traffic stop was for an equipment violation, and while investigating the incident, Deputy Hyde discovered Daniel Pfaffenbach, 36, of South Dayton had an outstanding warrant from the City of Dunkirk and his driver’s license had been revoked.

The Deputy had Pfaffenbach and Kelly Mallaber, the passenger, exit the vehicle to inventory it’s contents before it was towed when Mallaber advised the Deputy there were multiple needles containing heroin in the vehicle’s cabin.   The search of the vehicle and Mallaber’s purse discovered a cap with heroin residue, a bag of heroin, twenty-nine Lyrica pills in an unmarked bottle, a glass pipe with cocaine residue, and ten syringes with heroin residue. 

Mallaber, 25, of Gowanda was arrested and charged with three misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and a violation of possession of a controlled substance not in the original container.  The defendant is at the Erie County Holding Center pending her arraignment.

Pfaffenbach is charged with a misdemeanor count of aggravated unlicensed operation and three different vehicle and traffic violations.  He was turned over to the Dunkirk Police Department for the outstanding warrant.
