The Driver made an Improper Turn and Sideswiped the Deputy

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of 23-year-old Hayden Newcomb of Conesus, New York for driving while intoxicated after striking a Deputy while making an illegal turn Sunday evening.

At approximately 5:15 P.M., a Deputy directing traffic at Southwestern Boulevard and Abbott Road was sideswiped by a truck driven by the defendant who made an improper turn at the intersection.

Hayden is charged with DWI and three New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  After he was processed at the Elma Substation, Hayden was released to a sober third party on appearance tickets for Orchard Park Town Court.

The Deputy was not injured and remained at his post.
