Morning Raid Seizes Heroin and Loaded Guns

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announces the arrest of three individuals on drug and gun-related charges following a raid at 508 Hewitt Avenue in the City of Buffalo this morning.

The Erie County Sheriff’s SWAT team made entry into the dwelling on September 12.  The Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit, which was assisted by members of the Buffalo Police Narcotics Unit, executed a search warrant signed by Judge Craig Hannah. 

While making entry into the residence, subjects were observed trying to dispose of narcotics.  Recovered in the search were a felony amount of heroin, drug paraphernalia, a loaded SKS rifle, shotgun, and revolver.  Officers also discovered three minors, all under the age 4-years-old, in the domicile.

The Sheriff’s Office charged 32-year-old Myron McCollum with felony counts of criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, criminal possession of a narcotic, two counts of criminal possession of a loaded firearm, criminal possession of an assault weapon, and attempt to conceal evidence.

Mia McCollum, 36-years-old, is charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, criminal possession of a narcotic,  criminal possession of a  firearm, criminal possession of an assault weapon, and misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

19-year-old Damion McCollum is charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, criminal possession of a narcotic, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of an assault weapon, and attempt to conceal evidence.  Damion was also arrested on two outstanding warrant from the towns of Cheektowaga and Amherst for petit larceny charges.

All three defendants are being held at the Erie County Holding Center pending their arraignment.

The Sheriff’s Office contacted Erie County Child Protective Services, and the children are now under the care of a relative.
