Sheriff’s Office Family Court Warrant Unit Conduct Semi-Annual Sweep 

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announces the successful completion of a Family Court warrant sweep that was conducted on Wednesday, June 5th, 2019.  

The Erie County Sheriff’s Civil Enforcement Division, which includes the Family Court Warrant and Child Support Enforcement Unit, participated in the daylong sweep.  Members of the unit searched throughout the City of Buffalo and Erie County for individuals wanted on active Family Court warrants.  The Sheriff’s Office has focused its attention on Family Court warrant sweeps as an important tool to combat crime and concentrate on persons who owe and are not paying child support. 

Deputies arrested and took nine subjects with a combined twelve warrants into custody.  

Arrested in the sweep were:  

  • 36-year-old Eric Richards of Buffalo on a Family Court Paternity Warrant; 

  • 31-year-old Matthew McPhatter of Niagara Falls on a Family Court Paternity Warrant;  the defendant was taken to the Erie County Holding Center is held on $10,000.00 bail; 

  • 40-year-old Tyshawn Johnson of Buffalo on a Family Court Child Support Warrant.  Additionally, the subject had two outstanding Buffalo Police Department warrants for possession of a forged instrument, petit larceny, unlawful possession of marijuana, and vehicle and traffic charges; 

  • 43-year-old Rachel Netter of Buffalo on a Family Court Child Neglect Warrant; 

  • 29-year-old Lena Jindra of Buffalo on a Family Court Child Neglect Warrant as well as a Buffalo Police Department warrant for criminal possession of a controlled substance; 

  • 25-year-old Keyonia Verse of Buffalo on a Family Court Child Neglect Warrant; 

  • 35-year-old Bruce Kohler of Kenmore on a Family Court Child Support Warrant; the defendant was taken to the holding center and later released 

  • 49-year-old Chad Bauer of Blasdell on a Family Court Child Support Warrant; the defendant is remanded to the holding center; 

  • 35-year-old Thomas Brown of Cheektowaga on a Family Court Child Support Warrant. 

The defendants not remainder to the holding center were process and released by Family Court. 

Deputies are confident that intelligence gathered during the sweep will lead to several more arrests in the following days and weeks.
