Rath Building Employee Alerted Deputies, K9 Team & ECSO Bomb Squad Called 

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Deputies assigned to the Rath Building arrested a female after discovering numerous cherry bomb firecrackers in multiple locations around the exterior of the Rath Building Friday. 

On Friday, July 28, around 3:00 P.M., a county employee alerted Deputies Braun, Kuhn, and Pellittieri of an individual who placed some firecrackers by a receptacle outside the Rath Building.  The female was identified and stopped by Deputies and when speaking with Sarah Sinopoli, 20 of Buffalo, she made several admissions regarding the explosives and detailed multiple locations where the cherry bombs were placed. 

The Erie County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad was dispatched to the Rath Building, and the explosives detection K9 team of Deputy Girdler and Loki swept the area to check for additional explosives; eleven explosives were located. 

Sinopoli was arrested and charged with a felony count of criminal mischief, a misdemeanor count of reckless endangerment, a violation for disorderly conduct.  The defendant was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending her arraignment.
