The Central Police Services Lab Determined the Drug was not Heroin
Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the Central Police Services Lab has confirmed that the suspected heroin seized in a raid conducted May 8 was fentanyl and not heroin.
During the May 8 operation where Sheriff’s Narcotic Unit members conducted simultaneous raids in Buffalo and Evans, the Sheriff’s Office seized approximately 50 grams of suspected heroin. Following testing by the Erie County Central Police Services Lab, the substance was determined to be fentanyl and not heroin.
This raid resulted in the arrest of James Carter, 31, of Buffalo and the recovery of a handgun, crack cocaine, numerous Xanax pills, and marijuana.
Carter remains at the Erie County Holding Center on $40,000.00 bail.
