Pennsylvania Man Possessed Nearly 60 Pills 

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports narcotics and weapon charges were filed against a Pennsylvania man Thursday morning following a traffic stop on Route 400 in the Town of Elma. 

Around 1:45 A.M., Deputy Zamorek performed a traffic stop after observing vehicle and traffic law violations.  The Deputy’s investigation discovered Axel Rivera-Rodriguez illegally possessed narcotics, and he was placed under arrest.  While inventorying the vehicle, Deputy Zamorek discovered a loaded 9mm handgun in a vehicle seat pocket.  

Rivera-Rodriguez, 38 of Mechanicsburg, is charged with a felony count of criminal possession of a loaded firearm, a misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a controlled substance, a count of possessing a controlled substance not in the original container, and two vehicle and traffic law infractions. 

The defendant is held at the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment. 

Fifty-nine different prescription pills were seized including Hydrocodone.
