Patrol Deputies Make Several Arrests during Traffic Stops

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Deputies made ten separate arrests following traffic stops this past weekend.

 

March 9, 9:43 P.M., Village of Springville – Deputy Francis conducted a traffic stop on North Cascade Drive for vehicle and traffic law violations.  During the Deputies investigation, he discovered a quantity of Xanax in the vehicle.  Ronald Kehr, 30, of Collins, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance not in its original container, and a vehicle and traffic law infraction.  The driver was released on tickets.

 

March 9, 11:55 P.M., Town of Newstead – Christopher Jauch, 49, of Clarence, was arrested following an investigation by Deputy Leuer of a vehicle in a snow bank at Clarence Center and Utley roads.  Jauch failed multiple standard field sobriety tests and registered a BAC level of more than twice the legal limit.  The defendant is charged with aggravated DWI – BAC level of .18% or higher, a common law DWI, and a vehicle and traffic infraction.  He was released on tickets.

 

March 10, 3:46 A.M., Town of Clarence – Deputy Pellitieri stopped a vehicle operated by Anisha Fonville, 23, of Amherst, after observing vehicle and traffic law violations.  The Deputy’s investigation discovered that the driver had ten active suspensions on her license; she was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation.  Fonville was taken to the holding center for an outstanding warrant from the City of Buffalo.

 

March 10, 4:30 A.M., City of Buffalo – Deputy Zamorek stopped a vehicle at Smith Street and Interstate 190 after observing vehicle and traffic violations.  After an investigation, Jamal Nelson, 40, of Smithmill, Pennsylvania, was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI – a BAC level higher than .18%, common law DWI, and a vehicle and traffic law violation.  The defendant was released following his arraignment Saturday morning.

 

March 10, 5:08 P.M., City of Buffalo – Deputies Bauer and Kuhn stopped a vehicle at Stetson and Howard streets for a vehicle and traffic violation.  Their subsequent investigation discovered the two passengers possessed crack cocaine.  Kenneth Michels, 28, of Blasdell, and Dylan Croom, 25, of Buffalo, were arrested and charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance.  Both of the defendants were taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending their arraignment.  The driver was issued traffic tickets and released.

 

March 10, 6:21 A.M., City of Buffalo – Deputy Zamorek stopped a vehicle for speeding and other vehicle and traffic violations on Interstate 190 at Seneca Street.  The Deputy discovered Robert Del Valle’s license had been suspended since July 2015, for failing to pay a driver responsibility assessment from a previous DWI conviction.   The Deputy attempted to conduct tests to check for impairment but Del Valle, 48, of Buffalo, refused to submit to a breath test.  The driver was arrested and charged with a felony count of aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor DWI charge, and five separate vehicle and traffic violations.  Del Valle was taken to the holding center pending his arraignment.

 

March 10, 11:02 P.M., Town of Collins – Deputy Hyde stopped a vehicle operated by Cole Jimerson, 19, of Collins, on Route 438 after observing vehicle and traffic law violations.  The Deputy’s investigation discovered that Jimerson’s license has three active suspensions and he was taken into custody.  The subsequent search of the defendant discovered a quantity of concentrated cannabis.  Jimerson is charged with two misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and two vehicle and traffic law infractions.  The defendant was later released from the holding center.

 

Mach 11, 9:22 P.M., Town of Concord – Rachel Munson, 32, of Springville, was stopped by Deputy Farina after he observed the vehicle she was driving was traveling down the middle of Belscher Road.  While speaking with the driver, she stated she was texting and driving and when the Deputy asked if she had been drinking she said that she had.  Munson failed multiple field sobriety tests, and a breath test indicated a BAC level one and a half times the legal limit.  Munson was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor count of operating a vehicle with a BAC level of .08% or more, and a misdemeanor DWI.  She was also cited for failing to keep right and using a mobile device while operating a motor vehicle.  The defendant was released to a sober third party.

 

March 12, 1:21 A.M., Town of Orchard Park – Deputy Francis initiated a traffic stop on Route 20A after observing vehicle and traffic law violations.  While speaking with the driver, the Deputy detected the odor of alcohol and the operator stated he had been drinking.  Isaiah Spain, 33, of Buffalo, failed multiple standard field sobriety tests and a breath test indicated a BAC level greater than .08%.  The Deputy’s investigation also discovered a quantity of marijuana in the vehicle.  Spain is charged with DWI, Operating a vehicle with a BAC level of .08% or higher, unlawful possession of marijuana, and two vehicle and traffic law violations.  Spain was released to a sober third party.
