Unlawfully Possessed Handgun Recovered from Driver’s Pocket

 

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Deputy Ballantyne stopped a northbound vehicle on Route 219 in the Town of Concord April 1 at 11:09 A.M. for vehicle and traffic violations.

 

During the traffic stop, the Deputy requested the driver exit the vehicle, and when asked if any weapons were in the vehicle, the operator stated he had a pistol in a pocket.  Deputy Ballantyne could not find any record of the subject having a pistol permit and he was detained.

 

The Deputy secured the handgun and searched the vehicle when a quantity of cocaine and marijuana was discovered.

 

Anthony Weber, 31, of Attica is charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a controlled substance, marijuana possession and a vehicle and traffic violation.  The defendant was processed and later released.
