Sheriff Timothy B. Howard, on behalf of all the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, past and present, would like to express his condolences to the Higgins family and wish them comfort and peace.  Sheriff Howard was saddened to learn of his passing of his predecessor and fellow Sheriff.

Today, and in the days to come, this office, the community, and his family will mourn Sheriff Higgins’ passing and honor his service and memory. 

Thomas Higgins will be remembered for his dedication to public service.  He served his country as an honorable Marine, his city as a police officer and his community as Erie County Sheriff. 

Sheriff Higgins exemplified public service and his commitment to his fellow citizens will leave a lasting mark on the Sheriff’s Office and many other organizations, all of which will miss him.
