Meth and Cocaine Discovered during Vehicle Searches
Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Deputies made two separate traffic stops in the Southtowns, which resulted in five arrests.
June 27, 6:13 P.M., Village of Springville – Deputy Dunn conducted a traffic stop on Commerce Drive. David Smercak, the driver, admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle. The Deputy’s subsequent search discovered two vials of methamphetamine and two glass pipes with residue.
Smerack, 50, of Springville, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. The two passengers, 18-year-old Rae-Lynn Smith of Springville and 19-year-old Travis Sawyer of Yorkshire, are charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. All three defendants were taken to the Erie County holding Center Pending their arraignments.
June 2, 11:33 P.M., Town of Wales – Deputy Bauer conducted a traffic stop on Olean Road. The Deputy’s investigation discovered the driver; 21-year-old James Knefley of Andover, NY possessed a felony amount of cocaine. Knefley was arrested and charged with a felony count of criminal possession of cocaine, a misdemeanor count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and two vehicle and traffic law violations. Knefley was transported to the holding center pending his arraignment.
The passenger, 19-year-old Isaiah Plank of Wellsville, NY, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and was released on appearance tickets.
