2 Snowmobilers Rescued From Trail after Crash

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the Snowmobile Unit and patrol Deputies responded to a crash on a snowmobile trail in the Town of North Collins Thursday evening.

Dispatchers received a cell phone call shortly before 6 p.m. about a two snowmobiles involved in a crash.  The Sheriff’s Office dispatched three Deputies and a Snowmobile Unit Deputy in an attempt to locate the scene.

Using coordinates from the cell phone and the enhanced 911 system, Deputies and first aid personnel were able to locate the scene.  Upon arrival, the Deputies found one male victim unconscious and a second male victim with leg injuries.

The victims were transported to the Erie County Medical Center for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.  The incident and the cause of the crash is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Snowmobile Unit.
