Contraband Discovered During Inmate Fight

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Deputies in the holding center discovered Xanax pills in an inmate’s single housing unit and in the rectum of another inmate after they responded to a fight.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., on Thursday, Deputies responded to a housing area where several inmates were fighting.  The Deputies were able to restore order and secure the housing area so an investigation could be conducted.  During the investigation of the fight, Xanax was discovered in inmate Kevin Fomby’s unit. Fomby, 30 of Buffalo, and Xanax was discovered in concealed in a finger of a latex glove in the rectum of inmate Darryl Barnes, 29 of Buffalo.

Both inmates were charged with a felony count of Possession of Dangerous Contraband in Prison and a misdemeanor count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.  In addition to the criminal charges both inmates will face administrative charges.
