Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports a Corrections Officer assigned to the Erie County Correctional Facility was attacked by an inmate resulting in head injuries.
On March 12, during the course of the officer’s duties, inmate Dayshawn Hopper attacked the officer inflicting head injuries. Hopper was restrained and placed in a secure area.
Patrol Deputies arrested Hopper, 25 years old, and charged him with a felony count of assault and obstruction of government administration. Additionally, the inmate faces administrative charges for the assault.
Hopper was serving a three-month in the correctional facility after his conviction for introducing contraband into a prison.
